Trying to decide where to stay when you visit Niagara Falls?

The Sheraton Fallsview vs Marriott Fallsview debate is a hot topic for visitors—especially since these hotels have some of the best views in the city.

Beyond amenities, parking fees, and breakfast options (which are all very similar), these hotels have two main differences: location and type of view.

In terms of the view, here’s the difference in a nutshell: The Marriott Fallsview has a close-up view directly across from the Horseshoe Falls.

The Sheraton Fallsview faces both the American Falls and the Canadian Falls from a distance (you can find pictures of both below to see what I mean).

If you’re still on the fence, I’m getting into the nitty gritty of both hotels in this article—from parking rates to location and reviews—to help you decide.

PS: I’m a Niagara local and have stayed at several hotels in the Niagara Falls tourist hub for dance competitions when I was younger.

It’s been a while since I’ve stayed at these hotels, though, so I’ve done my best to research the heck out of both properties and collect real-life reviews from people who’ve recently visited.

All reviews in this post are from various Niagara Falls Facebook groups. (I’m a member of several different groups and try to answer visitor questions when I have the time.)

The View

The Marriott Fallsview sits directly across from or above the Horseshoe Falls (depending on what floor you’re on).

The Sheraton Fallsview is closer to the American Falls, and gives you a view of all three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls (the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls).

Quick note: There are no fallsview rooms with beds against the window (like you may have seen on Instagram). Influencers drag the mattress and put it against the window just to take photos.

Lower Floors vs Higher Floors

When you’re booking a fallsview room, remember to consider the floor number to ensure you get the best view. Generally speaking: the higher the floor, the better your view will be.

If you’re booking directly on the Marriott or Sheraton website, you can click on “room details” and then look under “room overview” to see which floor that specific room type is on.

On Booking.com, I noticed the room description also sometimes includes the floor number.

Rooms on higher floors tend to be more expensive. You may have to upgrade or pay extra if there is a specific floor you want to stay on.

If you decide to book the Marriott Fallsview, I’d recommend booking floors 7 and higher. Floor 6 has a limited view over the trees.

Here are some reviews to give you a better idea of preferred floor numbers:

Marriott Fallsview

⭐ “We were on the 17th floor of the Marriott and we had a great view and time there.”

⭐ “Just stayed at Marriott Fallsview. Excellent view from floor 11!”

⭐ “The view from Marriott 22nd floor was AMAZING!”

⭐ “We are headed to Niagara Falls in a few days. We booked the Marriott and when I made our reservation, the lady said most people prefer floors 13-19. She said if it’s too high, it’s more of a bird’s eye view.”

Sheraton Fallsview

⭐ “We stayed on the 16th floor at the Sheraton, which is a ten in our books. The fireworks were like right in front of you, you need to be up high to enjoy the falls at night. When the lights shine on the falls at night, it’s so beautiful.”

⭐ “I think we were on the 18th, in a corner suite. The view was incredible and the room was spectacular. There are glass doors that you can open to bring the sound of the falls inside.”

⭐ “If you’re a Marriott member and have points, use them! We have the corner king suite on the 19th floor and didn’t have to pay anything. Used our points and our upgrade, so worth it! It has 3 Juliette balcony doors and then an actual walk-out balcony!”

Location

Do you want to be in the heart of the action, within walking distance of Clifton Hill and the Niagara City Cruises (Hornblower) boat tour? Then you’ll probably love the Sheraton’s location.

Would you prefer to be closer to the actual Horseshoe Falls and attractions like Table Rock Centre and the Fallsview Casino? You may want to consider the Marriott Fallsview.

Keep in mind, the WEGO hop-on hop-off bus has stops close to both hotels so it’s easy to travel between most major attractions from either location.

WEGO transportation is already included if you’re planning to purchase a Niagara Parks Adventure Pass.

Here are some reviews about the location of each hotel:

⭐ “Love the Sheraton Fallsview. Good views and right in the action on Clifton Hill while still being close to the falls.”

⭐ “The Marriott Fallsview is awesome! We just came back from there. You do have to pay to park there, but they gave us WEGO (bus) passes to use while we were there. It stops almost anywhere in Niagara that you want to go. It basically pays for the hotel charge for parking by not having to pay everywhere you go.”

⭐ “Sheraton Fallsview is close to two bus stops, restaurants, and across the street to the boat launch. Marriott Fallsview is down by the Horseshoe Falls and in my opinion further away from things.”

⭐ “I’m here now and I’d do the Sheraton if you have kids and want to be near all the action. It’s also near the zip line and boat cruise.”

⭐ “I have gone back and forth between Embassy, Marriott, and Sheraton for a week, booking and changing my mind. I finally settled on Sheraton because my daughter will probably want to spend every night around Clifton Hill, and we also want to walk over the Rainbow Bridge to the US side to do Cave of the Winds and back, and it’s so close. I like that Sheraton has the Juliette balcony or higher-priced balcony rooms, and the view is still spectacular. We can get up to the Fallsview area and the other attractions by WEGO.”

Parking

The Sheraton Fallsview and the Marriott Fallsview charge the same rate for parking:

  • Valet parking: $65 CAD daily
  • Self-parking: $45 CAD daily

These prices may change depending on the time of year; these are the prices I found during the high-season summer months.

One thing to know: the parking lot for both hotels is not directly on-site (if you choose the self-park option).

At the Sheraton Fallsview, guest self-parking is 75 yards away behind the hotel and near the Crowne Plaza.

At the Marriott Fallsview, parking is a 5-minute or so walk from the hotel.

Rooms & Amenities

Both hotels are modern and well-kept for the most part. The Sheraton Fallsview had a complete revamp in 2020, which included a full-scale renovation of guest rooms, the lobby, and public spaces.

Both hotels offer similar amenities, including on-site restaurants, a fitness centre, an indoor pool, and spa.

The Sheraton Fallsview has an outdoor rooftop pool and it’s connected to the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark. This hotel also offers rooms with a Juliette balcony, something you won’t see at many hotels in Niagara Falls.

One thing to keep in mind if you have your heart set on a room with a Juliette balcony: it’s basically a glass door that opens to a railing with a few inches of space in between. It’s not a full walk-out balcony.

Here are some reviews about the rooms and amenities:

⭐ “Marriott – We stayed there with a fallsview room, which was amazing! The room was clean and comfy but nothing special other than the view. They do provide you with WEGO passes which is the bus system so we used those to get around to cut down on our walking.”

⭐ “The Marriott is right near the horseshoe falls. It has suites available where there’s a separate living and sleeping area, divided with French doors (for privacy or if the kids are up later than you) but it is farthest away from Clifton Hill. There are no room types like that at the Sheraton (which was remodelled during shutdown). Sheraton has a great rooftop pool for summertime.”

More Real-Life Reviews

If you’re anything like me, you spend way too much time reading reviews when you’re trying to decide on accommodations.

I know how helpful they can be, so here are a few more reviews I found in Niagara Falls Facebook groups for each hotel:

⭐ “Marriott has a much nicer view of the falls, but the Sheraton is much closer to Clifton Hill and activities.”

⭐ “We stayed at the Sheraton last September and we’re going back again this year. Loved it! We stayed on the 12th floor and the view was amazing. Could listen to the falls all night and watched the fireworks from our room. You won’t be sorry.”

⭐ “We stayed at Marriott Fallsview and loved it! The price was definitely worth it in our opinion.”

⭐ “Sheraton! Right in the middle of Clifton Hill, closest hotel to the falls (walking distance), and the sound of the rumble from the falls is the best!”

⭐ “Marriott Fallsview without a doubt. Our room overlooked the Horseshoe Falls.”

⭐ “Sheraton Fallsview is right at the bottom of Clifton Hill. It has a rooftop pool and bar. We just left there, great location and a great hotel. They will give you free bus passes to use while you’re there so you won’t need to use your car.”

⭐ “We stayed at the Marriott in a fallsview room on a high floor. At night, there was a lovely light show on the falls and it was just so peaceful to sit in the window with a glass of wine and watch.”

  1. Thank you for all the information. We chose the Sheraton Falls hotel for the rooftop bar and views. We will be going October 2025 to see the falls colors in Acadia National Park. Then onto to see Niagra Falls. A big trip for us Californians.

    1. You’re welcome! That sounds like a great itinerary. Enjoy your trip in October!

  2. Thank you Ashley! I really enjoyed your comprehensive review of both hotels which made it way easier to make my decision. It can be hard to know what hotel to stay at when you’re coming from so far away so thank you for making planning this trip a little easier.

    1. Hi Kellie, thanks so much for taking the time to leave this lovely comment! 🙂 I’m glad my articles have been helpful with your trip planning. And I hope you have a fantastic trip in September!

  4. Hi Ashley,
Very informative information you’ve provided. As everything I have read, it states the best views are on the upper levels. I’m staying at the Sheraton, what would be the best view in your opinion…8th floor corner suite with two walk out balconies, or Juliet Balcony room on the 16th floor or higher? Please advise. Thank you!

    1. Hi, I’m glad to hear this post was helpful! I would probably choose to have a walkout balcony if you’re visiting when the weather will be nice (keep in mind, I don’t think these balconies have any chairs or patio furniture). If you’re really torn, it might be worthwhile calling the hotel and speaking to a reservation agent to see if they can give you more insight into the type of view you’ll get from either floor.

  5. Thank you Ashley for your excellent and thorough review! I have been on the fence for weeks and this just helped me jump off!

    1. You’re welcome, Gigi! Glad it was helpful. And hope you enjoy your stay in Niagara Falls!
